Site Excavation
Jan 4, 2022
Several excavators are at work on the site.
In the background can be seen work on the slope of the playground leading down to the nature play area.
The deep excavation on the west side is to remove unsuitable materials. This is the deepest part of the site work and next week this area will be replaced with compacted construction fill that will provide a sturdy base for the concrete building foundations.
Some large rocks / ledge has been uncovered on the east side that requires a breaker bit to remove.
This site work was anticipated in the bid documents, no unexpected site conditions have been found yet.
Later in the project, more excavation will be done along the edge of center brook so a retaining wall can be installed.
