The Upton Town Library is committed to providing a wide range of services to library users of all ages. Service to children is of vital importance to us.
The Children’s Area offers a variety of materials including board books, early readers, picture books, juvenile fiction, preteen fiction, audiobooks, graphic novels, nonfiction, Spanish materials, magazines, and DVDs.
Currently, we provide programs including Baby Storytime, Preschool Storytime, Music & Movement, LEGO Club, Kids’ Book Club, and Tween Book Club. Special and seasonal events are held throughout the year on a registration basis.
School outreach is a part of our services. Local schools are supported with storytime visits, school project materials, summer reading titles, as well as collaborative events with school librarians.
The library also offers an Annual Summer Reading Program, which offers a variety of programming each summer.
Baby Storytime
Baby Storytime is held Fridays at 9:30 & 10:30. Mrs. Murphy shares nursery rhymes, short stories, and songs to help develop language and social skills for our youngest patrons. Recommended for ages birth to 3.
LEGO Club
We provide the LEGOs and members work on the creations! Work is then put on display until the following week. This is a great chance to make new friends and practice cooperative building skills. Recommended for ages 5 to 12.
Music and Movement
Music and Movement programs will be held on select Mondays at 9:30. See our event calendar for dates and locations. Deb Hudgins plays guitar, sings, & incorporates stories, dancing, fingerplays, games and more at each of her fun, themed performances. Recommended for ages 1-5. Caregivers remain with their children and participate!
Preschool Storytime
Preschool Storytime is held Thursdays at 9:30 & 10:30. Mrs. Murphy shares two theme-based stories and helps the children create a simple craft. Preschool Storytime helps reinforce early literacy skills and builds school readiness for this age group. Recommended for ages 3 to 5.
Kids' Book Club
Each month, members explore popular juvenile and preteen titles. Copies are available at the circulation desk for members and nonmembers. This group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 4:00. For ages 8-12.
Tween Book Club
Members explore popular middle grade, or preteen, fiction titles, while also learning about new releases. New members are welcomed year round!
Meets at 6:30pm on the third Thursday of each month.
For ages 10-14.
